Turns out one little matcha counter wasn't enough.
When we first started serving matcha inside JUJUHOME, we genuinely had no idea what would happen. We just wanted to share something we loved alongside the store. Then people kept coming. And coming. And bringing their friends. Before long, weekends meant a queue out the door, and we quickly realised we'd outgrown our tiny setup.
Luckily, we had an upstairs.
So we did what any sensible people would do and turned our office into a café. Desks were moved, walls were painted, furniture found new homes and JUJUHOME CHA officially opened its doors. It wasn't the biggest café in London but it was ours.
From day one, we wanted it to feel like an extension of the store. Somewhere you could grab a matcha after browsing, spend an afternoon catching up with friends or just escape the chaos outside for half an hour. We added more seats, expanded the menu with coffee and pastries and finally had the space to make everything we'd been planning.
The café quickly became more than somewhere to grab a drink. We've hosted workshops, launched collaborations, met customers who now feel like friends and watched complete strangers start conversations over a bowl of soft serve or an iced matcha.
Looking back, opening our first café completely changed JUJUHOME. It gave us a new way to connect with people and a space that continues to grow alongside everything else we do. Safe to say... turning our office into a café was one of our better ideas.
